Autumn leaves falling down, a slight chill is in the air and the smell of apple pie fills your senses. That’s right, it’s fall but better than that it’s October. If you’re like me October is one of your favorite months of the year. It’s when the season finally decides it’s time for us to wear coats and when the trees design an array of colors in their spare time. It’s that time of year when baked goods are a necessity and the pumpkin spice latte makes its triumphant return. October also means the rise of pumpkins, creepy creatures and of course spirits. I’ve always loved holidays and Halloween is no exception. I adore having a reason to celebrate something; here are a few of my favorite things about the 31st. Dressing Up I don’t think I will ever go a Halloween without turning myself into someone completely different. I get to be me the other 364 days, why not take advantage of the opportunity to be whoever I want? Whether it be the walking dead, a fictional character or my favorite actress, I get to choose! There’s no room for judgement and I’m always impressed with the costumes my friends and the trick-or-treater's come up with! Treats! If there’s a holiday that promotes the giving out of free candy, why wouldn’t I celebrate? Twix, Milky Way, Snickers, you name it I am thrilled to devour it this year. Plus have you seen the incredible number of themed food? Pinterst is filled with them! From hot dog mummies to Frankenstein marshmallow pops there are a ton of ways to be creative with your food this Halloween! Pumpkins/Decorations It’s the great pumpkin, Charlie Brown! Whether carved or painted it’s always intriguing to see how people choose to decorate for the spooky holiday! Makeup I’ve never done it myself, but I love see the way in which makeup can transform you into whomever you choose to be. Scary Movies I’m not much of a fan of actually being scared, but I love the childhood classics like Halloweentown, Hocus Pocus, Twitches and the Mary-Kate and Ashley movie Double, Double Toil and Trouble. Never forget the essence of your spark!
