Introducing...Me!

I thought I'd start off by talking a little bit about myself.  My name's Maire I'm 20 years old and currently a junior in college.  I'm an English major and for a while I hadn't the slightest idea what I was going to do with it.  All I knew was that English was what I excelled in and what I enjoyed.
At the start of this school year I came across a small organization called Dream On Youth (dreamonyouth.com).  I began conversing with its founder, Cydney, via twitter and soon enough I became involved in its mission.  It stands for everything I believe in, which is basically supporting end encouraging the dreams of others.  Not long after I started talking to Cydney I slowly began to think about what I wanted to do with my life.  I had always thought about writing, but continually pushed the idea aside. I've never had confidence in myself and self doubt has always clouded my imagination.  When I talked to Cydney though she helped me start to put trust in myself and my dreams.

That doubt will always be with me, but what I've learned recently is that every writer experiences it.  It's a part of the process.  It's what makes good writing.  So I've decided to push myself past my comfort zone and put my thoughts out into the world.  Blogging isn't something I ever thought I'd start doing but I've gotten to the point where I think it'll be good for me.  Improvement will only come if I put in a daily effort.  I want it to be something I look forward to every day or every other day.  Updating and writing every day is my goal.

When creating this blog I was unsure where to even begin.  I knew I wanted it to be based on things I love, things that I'm passionate about and will enjoy taking a few minutes out of my day to blog about.  Music is something that hasn't been a huge part of my life for long but has made a huge impact.  It's truly something I don't know how I ever got through things without.  I discover new songs and artists every day and it never fails to plaster a smile across my face.  Reading on the other hand has been a part of world for as long as I can remember.  Growing up teachers would have to tell me to put a book down so I could finish classwork (oops).  I go through books like it's my job.  Recently, however, I haven't been reading much because time is is limited with school.  That's why I've decided to add a book review section as well. (Right now I'm in the middle of Insurgent by Veronica Roth so as soon as I finish I'll make a post.) This way I can make sure I read at least one book for myself to update the blog.  As I get used to being a blogger I may add more sections but for now this is it.  If you took the time to read this, thank you and I hope you come again to see what I've posted and added!

Never forget the essence of your spark!
