Underrated, Unknown Artists You MUST Get Into

In the past couple of years I've gotten more and more involved in social media.  I've joined an online magazine, Scriptoeris, and I've become a part of the wonderful Dream On Youth team.  With that being said, my strong presence online, as well as my love for music, has introduced me to some artists I may not have been aware of if it weren't for the Internet.  Some you may have heard of because of previous posts of mine and some because they've become more popular in recent years.  For me these are artists that are truly dedicated to their craft, their "fan bases" and don't get nearly enough credit for their talent.

Betsy Lane
This southern cutie is a Nashville native who's slowly but surely making her way onto the country scene. This 21 year old may be young, but her songwriting ability will surely pull at your heartstrings.  I discovered this rising star in January of 2013 when she released her first EP 10 Months Ago. She writes her own lyrics, sings from the heart and has just the right amount of country sass that proves she has a natural gift for music.  Her voice is raw and pure and the way she expresses her feelings through her music is powerfully strong. If you want an artist with genuine heart and soul Betsy is your girl. She's humble and appreciative and is doing everything she can to put herself and her music out to a wider audience. It seems to be working because this past summer she (along with another artist I will be highlighting) went on a mini tour around England! Check out her latest EP Southern Crazy to see how much she has grown in her artistry.

Laura Zocca
Another songwriting beauty that I can't seem to get enough of is Laura Zocca. She's a friend from across the pond and at 20 years old Laura has a tone like no other.  Her soft vocal range and beautiful way with words will transform your listening experience.  She has a soothing way of captivating her audience and her modesty makes her even more appealing.  Even Taylor Swift agrees that Laura's talent is "breathtaking" and that one would need to "go off by [oneself] and sway back and forth in a field of lavender" after having listened to a song or two.  Her EP Untied released in October of 2013 is an assortment of lyrically soulful acoustic tracks.  It has a tribal feel to it and such a calming vibe that makes one feel at ease and relaxed when getting lost in the music.  She's not only strong vocally but her performance musically and artistically is unlike anything I've ever heard.

Seth Rinehart
Although his presence on YouTube is small, Seth's exceedingly big heart and love for music is clear.  Often mistaken for Ed Sheeran in his vocals, his crooner style is surely one like no other.  From covering a variety of artists to releasing his first full length album, 21 year old Seth Rinehart is on his way to becoming an artist to watch out for in the near future.  His songwriting ability, like our two ladies, is impeccable and his performance style is true to who he is as a person and an artist.  His humility and the way he carries himself is proof that the industry doesn't have to be cutthroat and competitive.  In October of 2014 he released his first full length album, written, produced and performed all by himself.  He's currently finishing up his spring semester in Nashville, and working on a new CD, that with all he's learned these past few months, I'm sure will surpass our expections.
