"I don't want to bother her with my drama right now." "They won't care about how much of a screw up I am." " I don't need to burden him with my problems." How many times have you found yourself starting a text to a friend and then deleting it? How often do you hesitate to reach out to someone? When are we going to stop brushing off how we feel as nothing more than an inconvenience for someone else? Tell me this: If someone texted you asking to talk what is the probability that you would immediately feel the need to roll your eyes? If a friend asked if they could take a moment to vent to you is your first thought "I don't have time for this." Why do we automatically assume the things we struggle with are insignificant and stupid? Why do we downplay our own insecurities, doubts and fears as if they don't matter?
You've been hurt before. A thousand times over, by people who said they would never be the reason you cry yourself to sleep at night. You let your guard down too many times to be so naïve to do so again. It's okay to scared. It's okay to be protective of your heart. Not everyone is going to leave you. Not everyone is going to make you regret sharing your heart. The people who moved on from you weren't meant to be a part of your life. They were lessons and heartbreaks you needed to experience in order to grow and mold into the person you are now. There is nothing wrong with a trusting heart. There is nothing wrong with falling in love with people as easily as you do. It's okay to mistake who you think they are for who they actually are. Eventually their true colors will show. You will be hurt but you will be okay, eventually. You will be able to move on and you will realize that all that time was not wasted. It was valuable to you because now you know what you deserve and you will demand it, as you should. Demand to be treated with the utmost respect and love and adoration. Demand to be treated like the precious piece of human life that you are. You are loved. You are valued. You are significant. It's not your fault if others can't see that. Never forget the essence of your spark!
