Back in March 2016, the up-and-coming country duo, Megan and Liz released their latest EP DEUX–landing them a prime spot at #4 on the iTunes country chart. Although we haven’t heard much from them since, the two have been hard at work cooking up some new music for their dedicated fans.
If you don’t know them already, Megan and Liz are 23-year-old twins from Nashville, Tennessee.  Born and raised in Michigan, these talented sisters made their start on YouTube and following the success of posting covers, due to their growing popularity, they started posting originals. Thanks to the nature of social media, Megan and Liz have released several EP’s, headlined their own tour, and successfully, made the the smooth transition from Pop to Country artists.
Now, the girls are releasing a brand new single “Almost,” a song for the crash and burn of a relationship that could have been. This melodic track reveals the truth that one chooses to ignore when the high of “what if” leads the way. Megan and Liz are brutally honest in their songwriting and this song is no exception. It was “almost” a love story and yet it was. Despite the fact that it was only “a moment in time,” it was something. Even if that something was brief, it brought up feelings that were just as intense as they could have been if it lasted.
2016 has clearly been the year for women in Country music.  Artists like Kelsea Ballerini, whose latest single “Peter Pan” just went gold, and Maren Morris, whose earned herself 5 CMA nominations, have proved that with their own success, and Megan and Liz are slowly but surely following suit. This song is sure to be a chart-topper following the success of DEUX. “Almost” is a track for the lovesick and the broken-hearted, while also a song of hope. The ability to acknowledge the beauty of the inevitable end of what “almost” was is empowering. It embodies how Megan and Liz have come to understand relationships, and the growth they’ve experienced since they were starting out singing about the boy they crushed on in math class.
Once again Megan and Liz display their knack for captivating lyrics, and it definitely adds to the anticipation for more from these two.
